Lila, Office Manager (24 Years with Dr. McAnnally)
I work in the background. My role is in the financial accounting, human resource, and practice management areas. It’s my responsibility to organize and coordinate the clinical, clerical, laboratory, and records areas of our practice. I’m also responsible for paying our bills, including orthodontic vendors, laboratory providers, continuing education costs, and local, state, and federal tax authorities, to name a few. Before joining Dr. McAnnally and his team, I obtained a degree in business administration and licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Arkansas. I became Dr. McAnnally’s Office Manager in 1986. During my 24 years with Dr. McAnnally, I have maintained my Michigan CPA license by attending 60 credit hours of continuing education each year.
Dr. McAnnally and I share a passion for learning. We worked simultaneously in the early 1990s to obtain Master of Finance degrees at Walsh College. We’ve also attended meetings of the Detroit Economic Club, Orthotrac practice management and Internet technology (IT) meetings, and we continue to attend accounting, orthodontic, practice management, and technology seminars. We both enjoy reading books, especially in the areas of economics, political science, business, and management. Being part of Dr. McAnnally’s team has been a joy. I admire Dr. McAnnally’s unusual capacity for work and his performance-driven passion for excellence. He has surrounded himself with team members that share his commitment to superior quality and an excellent patient-centered environment for our patients.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, Tony, and my two wonderful daughters, Whitney and Taylor. We enjoy watching movies, attending church, and playing with our dog Sydney and cat Jazz. Tony coaches travel-league girls’ softball. In recent years, the Ann Arbor Gold has traveled to compete in girls’ national championships in Georgia.
Rose Marie, Laboratory Coordinator (42 Years of Experience)
I started working with Dr. McAnnally shortly after he opened his practice. He often jokingly refers to me as his mentor and own Tim Allen of Home Improvement sitcom fame because I am a "Jack of all trades" and can work in all areas of our practice and repair most any type of equipment. In our office, that’s no small order! We have so much technology and equipment: computer, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, photographic, and radiographic equipment, plaster traps, autoclaves, and sand blasters, not to mention grinders, cutters, polishers, ovens, and other sundry laboratory equipment.
Currently, I fabricate retainers and other appliances for our patients. I’ve also completed 22 credit hours of certified study with the Academy of Advanced Radiographic Services. Over the years, we have created thousands of beautiful “McAnnally” smiles! It has been so rewarding to watch the joy and self-confidence in our patients as their smiles are transformed. I enjoy working with my teammates and patients, and I value the relationships we cultivate with our patients during their treatment.
I enjoy cooking, photography, playing dominos and euchre, gardening, working on my family tree, and playing with our cat, C.J. Family and friends are my greatest joy!
Barbara, Treatment Coordinator (25 Years of Experience)
I’m usually the first person you’ll speak to when you call our office. It’s an understatement to say I multi-task at our front desk: I answer phones, schedule phone appointments, greet and welcome new and existing patients into our practice, assist Dr. McAnnally with examinations, establish financial arrangements for services, and manage insurance claims. Multi-tasking isn’t new to me. I have a husband, Tom, three daughters, Monica, Michelle, and Marcy, and two sons, Alex and Andrew.
I’m quite outgoing and love being the first person to greet new patients and their families. I enjoy helping you feel comfortable, even feel at home, in our practice. I’m determined to make our services affordable for everyone. Together we can explore treatment and payment options that will best fit your budget. I also work diligently to help you obtain insurance benefits to which you may be entitled.
I’ve been a Certified Dental Practice Management Administrator for the past 25 years. I continue my education annually to ensure new developments in the dental field are available to our patients. I enjoy being an important cog in Dr. McAnnally’s team. It’s especially rewarding to see our patients’ beautiful smiles after treatment is complete!
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and five children, reading, baking, and volunteering at church.
Veda, Clinical Coordinator (30 Years of Experience)
My role is to ensure the clinic is running smoothly and on-time. Leadership by example has worked so well for us. Our entire team is focused on providing the quality care you need at every visit. I am proud of our well-knit orthodontic team. We are genuinely like family. We strive to be “the best we can be” so that “you can be the best you can be.”
We take pride in providing the highest quality of orthodontics in the community while also having some fun with our patients during the process. Patients are our guests, like friends in our homes. We enjoy getting to know our patients, seeing them each month, and hearing what is new in their lives. My day at the office is filled with laughter and beautiful smiles!
In my free time, you can find me at the gym kickboxing or ballroom dancing with my husband. I enjoy exercising regularly and will soon become a licensed personal trainer. That should keep me busy on weekends! My husband and I enjoy traveling to new places, and our most recent vacations were in California, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.
Anita, Orthodontic Assistant (30 Years of Experience)
Many years ago, I was fortunate to have been selected to join Dr. McAnnally’s orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic team. I primarily provide clinical care; although, like other cross-trained clinical team members, you will sometimes find me assisting Barbara at our front desk.

We enjoy getting to know our patients, and we value the enduring friendships that develop between us. We have treated grandparents, their children, and now their grandchildren. We have treated two year old children and 84 year old seniors. The creation of beautiful smiles that enhance self-esteem, confidence, and the quality of life is particularly rewarding. I’m sure that’s why orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics is the most popular specialty in all of dentistry and medicine.
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my beautiful daughters, India and Tayah. We enjoy church, walking together, and playing with our cat, Stardust. God is my strength.
Dulce, Orthodontic Assistant (15 Years of Experience)
I really enjoy working with Dr. McAnnally and my fellow team members. My main role on our team is caring for patients in our clinic. But, that’s not all I do. Our entire team is cross-trained in many areas to assist with your care. I schedule my patients, assist in making your appliances, and take photographs, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth to help plan and provide you with the best possible care. Our team regularly attends continuing education programs to stay atop the latest state-of-the-art advances in orthodontics. All of us here are dedicated to creating a comfortable and friendly environment. We want your visits with us to be pleasant and productive. We are committed to providing you the best possible care available.
When I’m not assisting Dr. McAnnally, I create garden art and try new recipes. My biggest joy, aside from working with my team members and patients, is time spent with my friends and family.
Elona, Orthodontic Assistant (14 Years of Experience)
I’m the designated orthodontic records technician. I’ll often be the second team member you will meet in our practice. I take our patients' initial diagnostic records, including x-rays and digital photographs. We work with patients of all ages, which I absolutely love to do. Dr. McAnnally is a remarkable orthodontist who goes above and beyond for his team and his patients. He offers nothing but the best in care.
I have had a great time working with Dr. McAnnally for the last 11 years. Each day we have a new adventure. I’m amazed at how well we work as a cohesive unit. I like to compare us to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Blue Angels, but sometimes we’re more like Cirque du Soleil (just kidding). I just love what we do for our patients!
I am a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions. Go Lions! I also enjoy cooking, watching the news, and being with my family.

I help Dr. McAnnally make every patient’s smile perfect. I love my work because I see the life-changing impact that a beautiful smile can make on our patients’ confidence, self-esteem, and personality development. Working with our wonderful patients is so enjoyable.
Dr. McAnnally is not only fantastic with his patients and their families, but he is also always educating himself and our team so that we can offer the best orthodontic treatments available. Dr. McAnnally has expressed appreciation for the precision of my work and astonishment that I jumped out of a plane 14,000 feet above the earth.
In my spare time, I enjoy boating, dancing, traveling, snow skiing, skydiving, shopping, and spending time with my amazing boyfriend and family.
